The Hanover County Historical Society's sixth annual Patrick Henry Leadership Award Gala took place on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at historic Janeway.

This year's recipients of the award were Virginia Darnell, honored for her work spanning three decades on the Pamunkey Women's Club Annual Calendar featuring original drawings of Hanover County's historic places; and the Parson's Cause Foundation, represented by John T. Tucker, III. The Parson's Cause Foundation has produced reenactments of Patrick Henry's famous Parson's Cause oration since 2004, frequently at the historic Hanover Courthouse, the location of its original presentation in 1763. Other historic figures are also portrayed at the Foundation's events.

Mr. Scott Macdonald, current owner of Janeway, opened the house and its outbuildings to the event's guests, who were given tours of the grounds by Alastair Macdonald. Many of the rooms in the original section of the house have been restored to their beautiful 19th century appearance.

Some 70 people attended the event. Musical entertainment was provided by Floyd Lane: Past and Present. A buffet dinner with drinks was provided by the caterer The Dirty Apron.
