receive their award

The Hanover County Historical Society's fifth annual Patrick Henry Leadership Award Gala took place on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at historic White Plains.

This year's recipients of the award were Barbara Duke Jones, honored for her commitment to the preservation of Hanover County's history; and the Blue and Gray Education Society, represented by Jim Davis and Ben Buckley. The BGES played a key role in the placement of new, interpretive signs at Hanover County's North Anna Battlefield earlier this year.

The Honorable and Mrs. Christopher K. Peace, current owners of White Plains, opened the historic house to the event's guests. Many of the rooms in the original section of the house had recently been restored to their beautiful 19th century appearance.

Some 85 people attended the event. Musical entertainment was provided by Homeward Bound.
