John T. Tucker, III has been the Chief Staff Attorney of the Court of Appeals of Virginia since 1990. He received a B.S. in Education from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of Richmond. He has also been an Adjunct Professor of Law for 28 years at the University of Richmond and the College of William & Mary. Prior to attending law school, John was a high school history teacher.

In 2012, John received a M.A. in Theology from St. Leo University. That same year, he was ordained a permanent deacon for the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. His diaconate assignment is at St. Paulfs Catholic Church in Richmond.

John is married to Lynn Murphy Tucker, whom he met in law school. Lynn is a partner with Dankos, Gordon & Tucker in Henrico County. Her practice focuses on will and trusts and real estate. John and Lynn have two sons. J.T. (John IV), age 27, is a fifth grade teacher at Blessed Sacrament Huguenot School in Powhatan County. Michael, age 25, is in the insurance business in Raleigh, N.C.

For the past 14 years, John has been performing at reenactments of Patrick Henryfs gLiberty or Deathh speech at St. Johnfs Church in Richmond. He is on the Advisory Board of All Saints Catholic School in Richmond, and is also on the Board of Directors of three non-profits ? The National Association of Appellate Court Attorneys, The Parsonsf Cause Foundation, and The Nora Houston Foundation.
